I’ve been in the accounting profession for nearly 30 years. I earned my bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from James Madison University. Even in school, I worked in the profession, doing the bookkeeping for several clients.
After graduation, I spent many years in public accounting. I loved this work because it allowed me to work with a large variety of clientele with varying needs. I enjoyed the diverse experience public accounting offered, including audit, tax, compliance and even a little government and estate work.
The remaining years were served in an internal controller capacity where I’ve developed a strong relationship with my organization and gained important insight and understanding of the business’s financial records from every aspect.
One of the things I like about public accounting is that every client is very similar yet, very different. I like being able to adapt the steadfast rules and regulations to benefit my clients to the best of my ability. By doing so, it allows my clients the knowledge to make better management decisions, use their financial records to grow their business and make the best business decisions possible.
My experience is broad and I can help anyone from individuals to large corporations but my specialty is in small business accounting. What sets me apart from everyone else is my commitment to building personal, long-term relationships with my clients. I want to take the time to understand their needs and work together to find the perfect level of service to suit those needs. Sometimes public accounting isn't the right avenue for that. Their billing model doesn't always allow for a lot of small talk that often leads to conversations that reveal important details about the business's underlying financial issues, concerns and goals.
As you can see, I have vast experience in the field and I’m ready to bring that expertise to your business or organization.
